PORTFOLIO

Hi, there!
Here you can see my artwork as it progresses from dismal and weird to (hopefully) AMAZING AND AWESOME AND BASICALLY JAW DROPPING.

Disclaimer: I worked REALLY HARD TO MAKE THESE AND I'D APPRECIATE IF YOU DIDN'T STEAL MY STUFF

Ahem.

So, I'm actually really proud of myself for the Eid graphics I made. I really did work my butt off for these ones.

Today I got this light bulb moment to post this on the NHK World TV's page. I watch this show called imagine-nation (cool word play, right?) and it's basically about anime and all the cool awesome stuff in Japan. At the end of the show, they show all the fan mail and messages- but get this- they PRINT it out and show it to the viewers!!! How AWESOME! So I made this lettering post to send to them. When I was uploading this I got a crazy moment when I was like, "Will they really present MY thing of all things???" Then I went, whatever, man. It was too late and I had spent a long time making it,so.

I was kinda having a deep moment when I thought of this quote, "When you realize that life isn't about material things; it's about things you can't hold." Basically it means that the most important things in your life are the things like love, happiness, joy, self love and stuff like that that count, not money and possessions. It made me feel really gooey and warm inside. I had to slap an ugly watermark on it to stop thieves.

Oh, man. My sister told me to make her a Laylat ul Qadr post but I completely forgot- in spite of telling her to pay up for the service. I just sketched out this hasty piece, of course with my watermark to make it all the more uglier.

THE LAWD KNOWS IT TOOK ME 3 HRS TO FINISH THIS ONE.

This one's made completely with Adobe Illustrator. (I did an intial sketch on Photoshop- I did the initial intial sketch on paper) It's hard work using the pen tool for every letter: in fact towards the end I gave up and used the pencil tool. Although it's a given that illustrator has lots of editing specialities like gradients (which I didn't use for some reason) Basically it took such a long time and I didn't do everything I had planned to do. Like, adding some drawings of wands, candles and crystals. Wands because this is a quote by Dumbledore. Crystals because they're cool. yas.

I don't even think this one is legal. I downright copied it off someone. And look at the white fillings in the letters. I obviously abandoned it when it looked like a failure. All the previous ones were made in photshop, but this is literally hand lettered.

Hideous, this one. I browsed for this crazy mismatched palette and it's crazy and mismatched. Quote is from a bout of deep thoughts. I mean, 'What you really need isn't material things' ??? What we really need is happiness, love, kindness and peace.

I'm extra proud of this piece because the color palette, I mean it looks so toothpaste-y and bubblegummy.

I'm really proud of this one even though the shadows of all the words kind of got displaced. Honestly I don't know what 'See The Signs' was supposed to refer to, but I think it's because I was reading Narnia around about that time
Literally my very first attempt at hand lettering, right after I checked out Risa Rodil (from Tumblr) and died because SHE ROCKS. I came back to life because why not.
